The New York Islanders had been doing for special events like Charity for Autism and Special Events on the night of the match. He was drafted by the New York Islanders in 2014 in the 4th round (95th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. The New York Islanders prospected Linus Söderstrom played for Goalie #35 New York Islanders Development camp in the Summer of 2017 while he did the Training Camp at Northwell Health Ice Center in East Meadow, NY. He was Söderström was diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder at the age of 7. Söderström found an oasis in hockey and in support from teachers at a specialized school he began attending at 10. He quoted on an interview with TV4 of Sweden and replied “Ice hockey has always been there, whenever I have had problems with friends, family, school – I have been able to rely on ice hockey,” he said. “It has meant all to me, hockey is my life. “The help I got from the teachers at the specialist school is something I could never say thank you for enough. They shaped me to a better person, and helped me focus my drive for school and ice hockey.” He also mentioned that Hockey has helped him to become a better person and be more aware of his support from friends, colleges and family members. He loved hockey but did had issues with communication, which he got the help from specialist and become a better hockey player himself.

Linus Södstorm also played for Skellefteå AIK in the Swedish Hockey League known as the SHL. He was goalie for the team and helped them win the 2023-2024 Le Mat Trophy Tournament. Linus Södstorm also got an MVP Awards for Stefan Liv Memorial Trophy of the 2023/2024 Season. It was also the first time that Skellefteå AIK won the Le Mat Trophy in 10 years since the 2013/2014 Playoffs. Linus Södstorm was excited when they announced his name for the best goalie of the year that same season. He made a lot of saves while being the Goalkeeper to help his team made his achievements to make it to the Finals Round and win the Stefan Liv Memorial Trophy Tournament. This is a great achievement for someone on the Autism Spectrum/ADHD to make it this far in the professional Hockey League and he should be pleased with the performance he did.

Thomas Greiss is also another former Goalkeeper for the Islanders from 2015 to 2020. He did his achievement by supporting Autism Awareness Month, because he wanted to help out and support his fans that are on the Autism Spectrum. He wore a decal of the Autism Awareness on his helmet to do a good cause. There was an interesting fact that Thomas’s niece (who holds the distinction for being his biggest fan) has autism. That was also the reason he became inspired to bring up the Autism Events which it started when he made Autism Helmets in the 2016 Hockey World Cup and then brought the attention to fans around the world. He also did events with the New York Islanders like special events for an Islanders Game for a special event.
