Australia dominated Canada 4-0 in a match that was held in Melbourne to the delight of a sold-out crowd of 75,000 fans. It was a performance to remember. The Matildas believed to get through to the Round of 16 so they could win the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup as the host nation. Despite the victory over Canada, they also took first place in Group B. The players that scored the goals were Mary Fowler and Hayley Raso, however it was Steph Caitley who converted the penalty kick to electrify the crowd after a remarkable performance.
