It was the United States first Women’s Field Hockey Tournament of the Summer Olympics in Paris. The United States will face Argentina in their opening match of the Women’s Field Hockey Tournament. Both teams each started off with the National Anthem of their respective countries. Both teams give respects and handshakes for good luck in the tournament.

When the 1st Quarter started, USA took the ball which they almost got a goal but it was caught for high ball. Then Argentina was about to get the early goal but the Americans did a massive defensive play to avoid the early goal. The USA Goalie made a massive saved but Ashley Hoffman was caught for a foul inside the circle which could give Argentina the penalty stroke. The referee made a review call for the foul and it was clear with the tackle. Ashley Hoffman got a green card for a 2 minute penalty sit down. Then Argentina was about to get a penalty goal but was able to keep it in. The USA defense was well played for the penalty corner. Madeleine Zimmer the goalkeeper of the USA made a massive saved. The USA however did a very good job keeping the defense on target. The match remained scoreless in the first quarter.

When the 2nd Quarter started, the USA was doing their luck to use the ball until Rocio Sanchez Moccia of Argentina broke the deadlock and took the lead 1-0 to open the second quarter. Argentina made a great one direction from defense to offense. When Augustina Albertarrio was about to score a goal, the USA goalie made a massive block to avoid another costly goal. Then Sofia Cairo of Argentina was going to get a goal but the shot was missed. By the time, Ashley Sessa of the USA was going to get a shot on goal but it was missed. #Tamer 1 of the USA was going to get a goal but the Argentina Goalie protected the ball to avoid an equalizer. Ashley Hoffman hand was caught in the circle which the Argentina team a penalty corner but missed but when they tried again for the penalty corner, and Rocio Sanchez Moccia of Argentina got another goal to gain the lead 2-0. The USA has one more chance in the Penalty Corner but couldn’t capitalize it to get the goal so it was halftime and the results remained 2-0.

When the 3rd Quarter started, Team USA is still determined to take get their first goal of the Olympics. Ashley Sessa was about to get a goal but the Argentina goalkeeper saved it. When USA got the ball again. Ashley Sessa has finally give Team USA a goal while catching up 2-1. The American Eagles were excited to get the first goal of the Tournament and the it was Ashley’s first goal since the 2016 Olympics in Rio. Then Argentina had some shots and had some penalty corners but couldn’t find a way to get a third goal. When Julieta Jankunas got the shot on goal and then helped Argentina score the extra goal to continue the lead 3-1. Then Julieta Jankunas was about to get another goal but a great saved from USA Goalie Kelsey Bing from a terrific play which it wraps up the 3rd Quarter.

By the time when the 4th Quarter started, Zoe María Díaz de Armas of Argentina got a goal to give a 4-1 lead. When Team USA was about to get the Penalty Corner, Ashley Hoffman was about to get shot on target but good save by Cristina Cosentino the Argentina goalkeeper. Then Abigail Tamer had her shot but the goalie made a good defense. Moments later, Rocío Sánchez Moccia of Argentina got a green card as she will be benched until she can come back to the field which give USA a penalty corner. When the USA was going to get the Penalty corner Elizabeth Yeager was going to get a goal but it was saved . Then, Victoria Sauze Valdez of Argentina got a yellow card, which give the USA another penalty corner but still failed. The referee checked the review for referral video to double check the play. Then Elizabeth Yeager did another shot on goal but could not hold on. Afterwards, Victoria Sauze Valdez of Argentina got a yellow card. Then Lara Casas of Argentina took the shot on goal from the penalty corner but missed direct the goal. Both USA and Argentina had a lot of review call videos in the last 3 minutes. The match ended with Argentina taking the 4-1 victory against the USA of the first match of the tournament in Pool B of the Women’s Division of Field Hockey.
