The Panthers and their 30 years During the 2023–2024 Season of The National Hockey League (NHL). The team that was founded in 1993 is in its 30th season with the Florida Panthers. It was thought that opposing teams would exploit the Panthers’ aggressive forechecking and strong defense, leading to a regression in team performance. The Panthers did, however, have another good season. In the last regular season game, they defeated the Boston Bruins to win the Atlantic Division, their third title in team history. They finished 52–24–6 with 110 points, with star center Sam Reinhart scoring 57 goals (tied with Auston Matthews for the league lead). On March 20, the team defeated the Detroit Red Wings 5–2, and Aleksander Barkov became the franchise’s all-time points leader. On March 28, 2024, the Detroit Red Wings’ 4-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes sealed the Panthers’ fifth consecutive postseason appearance. Following a victory against the Toronto Maple Leafs and a defeat of the Ottawa Senators by the Boston Bruins, the Panthers secured their third Atlantic Division championship and fourth overall on April 16. This season, 18,632 fans saw the Panthers on average. In the history of the team, this is the highest average attendance. The Florida Panthers announced in July 2023 that they will be celebrating their 30th anniversary season, which would include revealing their 30th anniversary logo. With a theme night dedicated to each decade, the Panthers commemorated thirty years of Panthers hockey. Fans commemorated the franchise’s founding in the 1990s on January 11 when the Panthers hosted the Los Angeles Kings. The 2000s were highlighted on March 7 against the Philadelphia Flyers, while the 2010s through the present were highlighted in-game and during game presentation on March 28 against the New York Islanders. For the 2023–2024 season, the Florida Panthers emerged victorious in the Atlantic Division.

In the opening round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Panthers squared up against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Two series between the Panthers and Lightning in the playoffs were previously won by Tampa Bay. In five games, the Panthers defeated the Lightning. In the second round, they played the Boston Bruins, and they emerged victorious in six games. The Panthers advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals for the second straight season after defeating the New York Rangers in six games during the conference finals. Florida State has won the Eastern Conference Championship and the Stanley Cup Finals five times in a row which the first 3 years was the Tampa Bay Lightnings and now the Florida Panthers took the last 2 years of the Eastern Conference Championship.

Before Game 1 started, Mike McDaniel the head coach of the Miami Dolphins got the Panthers fans amplified when he bang the drum to applauded the Panthers fans at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. Four minutes into the opening frame of the first game, Carter Verhaeghe of Florida beat Edmonton goalie Stuart Skinner with a wrist shot after receiving a feed from Aleksander Barkov. Evan Rodrigues doubled the score to 2-0 two minutes into the second half after Sam Bennett found him with a centering pass. Edmonton changed their goalie late in the third period to accommodate an additional attacker, but Eetu Luostarinen’s empty-net goal with five seconds left made the final score 3–0. In the match against Florida’s goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, Edmonton had 32 shots on goal, but Bobrovsky turned them all away to record a shutout.

Ready for Stanley Cup Finals action

After a shoutout 3-0 victory against the Edmonton Oilers in Game 1, The Florida Panthers were able to strive another Home game for Game 2 on the 10th of June. The 2nd Game started off with Alonzo Mourning the former Miami Heats Championship player who gets to bang the drum to bring it on for the Florida Panthers. The game started off with Mattias Ekholm got things started for Edmonton this time, after the team went scoreless in Game 1. About halfway through the first period, Ekholm launched a counterattack and converted a five-hole goal by putting his shot between Panthers great goalie Sergei Bobrovsky’s knees. In the second period, Florida regained the upper hand due to Matthew Tkachuk’s increased involvement in front of Edmonton’s net. Despite Tkachuk’s goal to tie the game at one, the Panthers continued to play. Rather, defenseman Niko Mikkola knotted it halfway through after dodging a potentially disastrous own goal and skating up the other side of the rink. The star of the show, Evan Rodrigues, was on display throughout the third period. After scoring in Game 1, the 30-year-old center/winger maintained his form late in Game 2. Stuart Skinner had little time to react after Rodrigues’ shot hit the upper left corner just over three minutes into the final frame. Then, just two minutes after the break, Florida displayed outstanding defensive set play that resulted in Anton Lundell passing the puck to Rodrigues to complete his brace. And then, with 2:30 remaining, Ekblad entered the score sheet. When the 28-year-old Ekblad found the puck in mid-ice and hammered it, Edmonton was pushing for a comeback and left an empty net. The Florida Panthers won 4-1 and it was best match of the Stanley Cup finals. All of the fans threw the rats to the ice after a victory of each game at every home match in South Florida. Thanks To all of the supporters, Evan Rodrigues was the hero for Florida in securing the victory in Game 2 in South Florida.


With two dominant wins in their first home games of the best-of 7 series against the Edmonton Oilers, the Florida Panthers set a record for themselves in the Stanley Cup Final and are now just two wins away from capturing the Cup in their thirty-year history. The Florida Panthers took a long plane ride to Edmonton and took the bus to Rogers Place. The game started off with Oilers and Panthers with the strong sides of defense. The score stands at 0-0 after the first 13 minutes. Aleksander Barkov of Florida and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of Edmonton both successfully completed their two-minute timeouts for interfering and delay of game, respectively, giving Florida a tiny advantage in shots on goal (8–7). With the score tied at four goals apiece, Brett Kulak and Matthew Tkachuk were sent off for unintentional roughing after a brawl that started after a Sergei Bobrovksy save. In the last seconds of the first period, Sam Reinhart beat Stuart Skinner by tipping in a pass from Gustav Forsling right in front of the net to open the score. Reinhart scored his first goal in the Stanley Cup Final and his ninth goal overall in the playoffs. Florida eventually capitalized for the game’s first goal after withstanding an Edmonton five-minute blitz late in the first. On a breakaway, Warren Foegele knotted the score 1:49 into the second half. Edmonton has only scored two goals in this series, and the first came during a five-on-five. With 4:29 remaining in the second half, Aleksander Barkov gave the Panthers their third goal of the game with a close-range snap shot, extending Florida’s lead to 4-1. It was the second point of the evening for Barkov. Two goals separated Florida’s lead over the Oilers. 6:02 into the third period, a Philip Broberg shot glanced off Florida defenseman Niko Mikkola and into the net past Sergei Bobrovsky. With 13:58 remaining in the game, Florida is still far in advance 4–2. A point-blank attempt by Brett Kulak for the Oilers deflected off Ryan McLeod in front of the net and past Sergei Bobrovsky, bringing the score to 4-3. Florida took a commanding 3-0 lead in the series on Thursday at Rogers Place in Edmonton after withstanding a late rally by Edmonton to win Game 3 with the result of 4-3. Both Sam Reinhart and Aleksander Barkov scored goals and provided an assist. Sam Bennett and Vladimir Tarasenko added goals, and Sergei Bobrovsky stopped 32 of the 35 shots he faced. The Florida Panthers had a single opportunity to move one step closer to their first-ever Stanley Cup victory in their thirty-year history.


The Panthers Collapse and the Oilers turnaround from Game 4 to 6

When the Florida Panthers resumed their road game in Edmonton for Game 4, there one game away to win the Stanley Cup and possibly can sweep the Oilers. The Panthers vented their resentment in a few post-whistle scrums, hours after family members traveled more than 2,500 miles for a possible celebration. It started off the Oilers got the early goal 2-0 into 10 minutes left of the first period, until Vladimir Tarasenko, a forward, gave the Panthers their first goal after deflecting a shot from Gustav Forsling, a defenseman. After that, the Panthers couldn’t hold on and give a big meltdown to let the Oilers get extra goals which the Panthers lost 8-1. When the Florida Panthers traveled back to South Florida to play at Amerant Bank Arena for Game 5. The whole team is determined to win the Stanley Cup in front of their home crowd. On a Tuesday Night the Panthers still had a chance to win the Stanley Cup if they could defeat the Edmonton Oilers. Before the game started Legendary Golf Player Jack Nicklaus banged to drum to bring in the crowd to chant,”Let’s Go Panthers”. When the game started, In the opening frame of game five, Connor Brown gave the Oilers the lead with a backhand shot that beat goalie Sergei Bobrovsky for a shorthanded goal. Zach Hyman’s goal on a power play in the second period gave the Oilers a two-goal advantage. After passing to captain Connor McDavid three minutes later, Oilers forward Warren Foegele beat Bobrovsky with a wrist shot to give the team a 3-0 lead. Less than two minutes later, forward Evan Rodrigues found Matthew Tkachuk, who scored to reduce the margin to two goals, giving the Panthers their first goal 3.1. The Oilers took a three-goal lead when Rodrigues was given a slashing penalty. Corey Perry scored his first playoff goal after McDavid’s feed. Fourteen seconds later, Brandon Montour’s pass to Rodrigues, who scored to make it 4-2, cut the Panthers’ deficit back to two goals.The crowd was feeling epic about the comeback which could possibly be the moment. In the third period, Florida defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored a goal with the puck to past Edmonton goalkeeper Stuart Skinner thereby making the score 4–3. The Panthers had a great opportunity to level the score in the final three minutes, but Oilers goalie Skinner made some huge stops. With the net empty, the Panthers did not give up and used it as an opportunity to continue playing offensively and obtain shots on goal. With one more attacker out for Florida in the last thirty seconds, the Oilers cleared the puck in the direction of the empty net, but Tkachuk dove to sweep it away with an epic save to avoid the Oilers the lead while the fans were thrilled with the great block of the stick. In addition Connor McDavid recovered the puck and scored into an empty net to earn Edmonton a 5-3 victory and force a sixth game back to Edmonton, Alberta, the Panthers’ dream was dashed.

On the 24th of June, 2024, it was Game 7 on a Monday Night at Arena Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida. While Coach Paul Maurice of the Florida Panthers had one more chance to redeem themselves to get the Stanley Cup Trophy or else the Panthers would choke the Stanley Cup Finals history since the 1942 Detroit Red Wings.

It was going to be the most epic game in Stanley Cup History while the fans roared the excitement of seeing the witnesses of seeing them lift up the trophy for a once in a lifetime which the Panthers would have to earn that victory. While special guest Florida Panthers legendary player Roberto Luongo would excitedly encourage the fans to release their energy and banged the drums to do the shoutout. The fans had all of their excitement to chant “LETS GO PANTHERS!” A lot of the fans who went to Game 7 had the most thrills which this could be the moment for a reality.

The game began with the Florida Panthers scoring first within the first five minutes, and believe it or not, it was their first lead since Game 3. As soon as a Florida power play was finished, The puck was shot in from the left by Evan Rodrigues, and Verhaeghe waved his stick at it just enough to divert it past Skinner and give Florida a 1-0 lead. This was the first time Florida had led since the conclusion of Game 3. However, the Oilers’ deficit was short-lived. Mattias Janmark of Edmonton finished past Sergei Bobrovsky after the team went on a breakaway, approximately two minutes after Florida’s opening goal. With Janmark scoring his fourth goal of the series, Edmonton scored on Bobrovsky for the fifth time in a row on a breakaway. Just over 15 minutes into the second period, Sam Reinhart of Florida managed to beat Skinner and defensemen  Cody Ceci on a breakaway from a tight angle. The assist was awarded to Verhaeghe and Dmitry Kulikov. Just before the goal, Kulikov managed to guard his own net and crashed into it before Reinhart capitalized. The Panthers would reply back and forth until Reinhart scored late in the second to put Florida ahead 2-1. It completed a wild sequence in which Florida defenseman Dmitry Kulikov ended up in the net to help save an Edmonton goal seconds before Reinhart beat Skinner. Reinhart extended his Florida single-season record with his 67th goal of the year, and it was up to the Panthers to keep it going. Although Edmonton dominated the last period, Bobrovsky and his defense managed to hold on, even after the Oilers played the final 1:10 with an empty net. After three attempts, the players defended the puck on the wall for the last 10 seconds and the Florida Panthers has finally won the Stanley Cup for the first time in Franchise History. Everyone in South Florida was happy, excited, cheered and cried for the most beautiful moment in Panthers History. All of the fans excitedly throw rats to the ice while the players hugged for the celebration while others hugged and cried for the tears of joy. It advanced to the finals in 1996 and the most recent season (2023), but was unsuccessful both times. Without a doubt, the third time was the charm. Nevertheless, the Panthers’ momentum completely vanished for three games. Florida lost Games 4, 5, and 6 to Edmonton despite building a dominating 3-0 series lead and giving up 18 goals in those losses. But Bobrovsky ensured a historic collapse would not happen under his watch in Game 7, making 23 of 24 saves. Despite the loss in the series, Oilers star Connor McDavid won the MVP award in the Stanley Cup Final his first Conn Smythe Trophy. As the first captain from Finland to do so, Aleksander Barkov was awarded the privilege of hoisting Lord Stanley. Every player had a moment to each lift the Stanley Cup Trophy and Coach Paul Maurice was very pleased with the amazing comeback which the Stanley Cup of 2024 was a survival chance. With cheers from the crowd, each player had their chance to raise the Stanley Cup Trophy, and coach Paul Maurice was overjoyed with the incredible comeback that the Stanley Cup of 2024 had accomplished. Even after the Panthers had conquered the hunt, the whole Stanley Cup journey was essentially a form of survival mode due to the difficult challenges what they faced at every round of the postseason competition. It was the first time since 1945 that the Maple Leafs had advanced to the Finals. That year, the Detroit Red Wings forced a seventh game after trailing 3-0, but the Maple Leafs prevailed in game seven of the series.
