Both Australia and the United States has expanded women’s sports in the 21st century since USA had continued to gain more fans in every sport not just soccer and field hockey, while Australia has resumed their favor of increasing girls playing sports and watching the sports that they love. The Australian Sports of women’s have been successful since last year’s World Cup as the Host Nation and it forever change the lives of Australian Girls and fans around the Globe to continue the sport that they enjoyed. The United States are still looking for their first win they each got a loss against Argentina and a draw against Spain in the first 2 recent matches, while Australia has won all 2 games against South Africa and Great Britain. Can Australia win all 3 games by far or team USA can get their first victory of the Women’s Pool B Division of Field Hockey. The American Eagles will put the showdown on the Australian Hockeyroos as these teams got their interesting nicknames for each of the team. Australia also had Hattie Shane on making her debut for today’s match against the USA along side with Maddison Brooks first time playing with the squad outside of the reversed athlete spot.
The match all started when Australia had took control of the ball and the USA had their first chance with the ball but ended up walking the ball with the stick to swing it on the far end. Then Stephanie Kershaw passed the ball to Renee Taylor into the circle and give the Hockeyroos the early lead 1-0. After that Brooke Peris had 2 chances with the shots of target but Kelsey Bing the goalkeeper of Team USA made some terrific saves. When the 2nd Quarter started, Mariah Williams of Australia got the Shot on goal but it was saved. Then Claire Olwill of Australia took the Penalty Corner shot but it was saved by Team USA. Meanwhile, Team USA got their first Penalty Corner and Elizabeth Yeager was going to but USA on the board but a great save from Jocelyn Bartman the Goalkeeper of Australia. The Hockeyroos had some chances with the shots on target until Alice Arnott give the shot goal for the Hockeyroos as the continued the 2-0 right before halftime.
The 3rd Quarter started when, Grace Stewart took the shot but it was saved from Team USA. Next Australia took the Penalty Corner and Penny Squibb took the sacrifice but the Goalkeeper was able to block it. Then Mariah Williams of Australia was caught for a foul and received a green card and will be benched for 2 minutes. Then Team USA took the penalty corner which Ashley Hoffman almost had her chance to get the opening goal. After that, the American Eagles had put all of their efforts to get the penalty corners but no sign of getting the goal for Team USA. When the Hockeyroos got their penalty corner, Mariah Williams was going to get the goal but it was saved by Kelsey Bing the USA Goalkeeper which wraps up the 3rd Quarter.
In the last Quarter, Australia has continued to played most of the position but team USA has continued to lagged their performance after a couple of mishaps and miscommunication while missing the opportunity to get the shot on target. Then Taylor Renne of Australia was caught for a foul and received a green card, which sh was benched for 2 minutes. When Taylor Renne came back on the field, the Hockeyroos continued their run as Maddison Brooks passed the ball to Alice Arnott and give her the ball inside the circle and Maddison Brooks scored the goal for the Hockeyroos as they trilled the lead 3-0. It was also Maddison Brooks first debut match at 19 years of age which she was originally a reserved athlete and came into the main squad for Jane Claxton who was injured for now. During the final seconds of the match Ashley Sessa of Team USA took the shot on target but it was wide. Then USA quickly got the ball back as Ashley swing the stick to put the ball into the net as they though it would be a USA Goal which it was disallowed about about to get the goal because was hit outside of the circle and went untouched. Since Team USA remained scoreless as Australia has won the match 3-0.
The Hockeyroos will play against Argentina while Team USA would have to play against Great Britain in order for them to still find their first victory before Pool B Tournament is done while Playoffs is getting close for the teams with the most wins in this division.
