I was so happy when I heard the news when the Redbulls decided to play against NYCFC at Citi Field instead of Yankee Stadium. During the day of the game, I hopped on a Train from the Long Island Railroad to Mets Willets Point. I got to Citi Field and it was nice seeing red and blue for New York. I played some games at the city festival and looked around the area.

When I went to the Tailgate party, I saw some Redbulls Fans and played shots and played the game whoever gets to drink last the most gets out which I was mostly unlucky but I was able to have fun because I wanted to catch up on life with the drinking game and I made new friends along the way. When it was time to wrap up the game, I walked to the Stadium and sat next to the away fans for the Redbulls because I wanted to experience life with the away fans like I did with Charlotte FC.

During the First Half, the fans did a lot of singing and saying loud from their seats other than City getting the early goal from Hannes Wolf. When I was about to plan on leaving at Halftime I quickly reacted that the New York Redbulls got the goal to level it up by Cameron Harper. The away fans were excited and I thought it didn’t go in but for the some reason the ball hit the post and bounced to the next which it was a shocker. The Redbulls tied the game 1-1 as NYCFC get their game alive.

During Second Half, there was a lot of excitement from the Redbulls and kept the energy flowing. Unfortunately, New York City FC got the goal at the 64th minute and it was thanks to Monsef Bakrar who took the sacrifice to get it in. The Redbulls did everything they can but there was a lot of fouls and cheeky plays from both sides. When it reaches the 80th minute, the Redbulls was about to get a goal to level it up 2-2 but I had that very excited reaction until it rolled away from the nest which it was super close. The replay showed that it was Center meters close but missed by the lower side of the net. By the time when stoppage time approached, there was a bad foul and it was a red card from City but it was the opposite and all of the Redbulls were mortified about the referee making poor decisions in most of the match. Unfortunately, the Redbulls were just short to get my winning prediction of 3-2 but the Redbulls lost 2-1. The away fans had to wait at least 30 minutes after the game ended to let the City Fans leave so they can avoid any trouble especially hooliganism.

I had a great time at Citi Field to see the Redbulls but not the way I wanted to finish the results which it would’ve been awesome if my team would score at least over two or three. In Conclusion, I would definitely want to go to every Redbulls game if they get to play in Queens or when the new stadium opens up next to Citi Field for the Mets so NYCFC can have their new home.
