The Mets started their season with 0-5 for the first time since 2005 by getting swept against the Milwaukee Brewers and Detroit Tigers. When June arrived the team were 24-35 but somehow on June 12, they got some help with the Grimace throwing the first pitch and that’s how their winning games had began and beat the Miami Marlins. Then the Mets had a terrific Summer which they brought the OMG song by Candelita which José Iglesias used that for his stage name and he used that song for his time mate J.D Martinez. They also use that song when the Team gets a Home-run at Citi Field. The Mets were on the verge of getting the last spot of the Wildcard while the Braves tried to eliminate their hopes so they can let the Arizona Diamondbacks get the last spot in the National League Wildcard.

The Game began with Tylor Megill for the New York Mets and Spencer Schwellenbach of the Atlanta Braves as the starting pitchers. It was scoreless until bottom of the 3rd inning when Ozzie Albes got a 2 run Homerun as he bring Michael Harris II to score the lead 2-0. In the Bottom of the 6th inning, Ramón homers a fly ball to center field and give the Braves 3-0. That was the point when the Mets switched pitchers from Tylor Megill to Huascar Brazobán.

At the Top of the 8th inning, it began with Tyrone Taylor doubles on a sharp line drive to center field as the fans were starting to bring hope as they thought it would be a disaster. Then the Braves changed Pitchers from Spencer Schwellen the starting pitcher to Joe Jiménez. After a quick break, Fransisco Alvarez doubles on the ground ball to left fielder Ramón Laureano which it was lucky to stay inside the white line as Tyrone Taylor scores to put the Mets on the board. Starling Marte singles it on a ground ball as Alvarez was able to run to 3rd base. Francisco Lindor was able to single a ground ball and Alvarez scores home while Marte ran to 2nd Base. Then the Braves swapped Pitxbers to bring in Raisel Iglesias to hopefully get 6 strikeouts in a row to end the Mets chance of winning. It was not planned to happen as Jose Iglesias singles on a line drive to right fielder Eli White as Starling Marte scores to tied the game as Lindor reached to 3rd. Mark Vientos fly out did help as Lindor ran home and scores the Mets a 4-3 lead. After when Iglesias steals to 2nd base, Brandon Nimmo gets a fly ball onto the right field and it’s out of here. Brandon Nimmo got his 23rd Homerun of the Season and give the Mets a 6-3 lead which it was 2 run Homer.

Then in the bottom of the 8th inning former Mets player Travis d’Arnaud got a single for the Braves which the Mets changed their pitcher Phil Maton as they went with their closer Edwin Diáz to hope put the Braves in the brink of embarrassment. Except it started with Jared Kelenic singles a ground ball to Pete Alonso as Eli White scores home while Travis d’Arnaud to 3rd after a ground out from Gio Urshela. Then Michael Harris II walks to first base as Ozzie Albies almost got the Homerun which turns into a RBI double as Travis d’Arnaud, Whit Merrifield and Michael Harris II all scored home with 3 runs to give the Braves the lead 7-6. In the Meantime, Alvarez threw the ball angrily at Diáz because he thought he screwed up the winning chance for the Mets.

During the Top of the 9th Inning, The Atlanta Braves changed pitchers from Aaron Bummer to Pierce Johnson. It started with Fransisco Alvarez with a Pop Out to third baseman Whit Merrifield. Then Starling Marte singles a ground ball to the left field. The Mets hopes of winning was starting to get excited which it was a must win moment. Fransisco Lindor got a 2 Run Homer and it was his 33rd Homerun of the Season as they lead back the Braves 8-7.

During the Bottom of the 9th Inning, the Braves were about to take the rollercoaster victory to their side as Edwin Diáz was determined to play for the 2nd time has he was angry and upset with his earlier performance so he asked the Manager to get another chance to redeem himself. He started off with Matt Olson who ended up with a pop out to shortstop Fransisco Lindor. Then Eli White singles on the line drive to center field Tyrone Taylor. After Eli White steals 2nd base, Ramón Laureano strikes out which the Braves are down to their final out. It’s up to the former Mets player Travis d’Arnaud which he ended up with a ground out as Lindor throws it to Pete Alonso on first base and the New York Mets has won the first game of the doubleheader as they just got the last spot to the Wildcard. The Mets won 8-7 from this incredible rollercoaster ride from being down 3-0 to leading 6-3 in the 8th to down 7-6 and leading 8-7 in the ninth inning to finish the game. The Mets didn’t win the 2nd game to the Braves 3-0 in the second doubleheader game because it didn’t matter that the Mets and the Braves are heading to the Wildcard Round as the Arizona Diamondbacks are eliminated. The Mets will now play against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday at American Family Field. The Atlanta Braves on the other side will play against the San Diego Padres.

The Celebration has started as the Mets high five their players and raise the OMG Sign that the Magic has worked and ended the regular season with the results 89-73. This is also New York Mets first Wildcard appearance since 2022 after a meltdown that could’ve been Division Titles of the National League East. The New York Mets had 11 playoffs appearances in Team history over 60 years in the making.

The New York Mets had a Locker Room Party as they released their Champagne Bottles and cigars to celebrate how far after a rollercoaster season which they were about to finish last before the All Star Break but managed to finished 3rd. The Mets somehow managed to get the greatest record of all time Classic to clinch WC Berth as this day will last a lifetime and a day to remember to end the last day of September before Post Season October begins. The players also had some interviews with SNY and the Mets Clubhouse which it was somewhat surprising to make it to a Wildcard Spot.
